Imola, la Ferrari “evo” ancora non basta. Ecco cosa ha funzionato… e cosa no

C’era tanta aspettativa intorno agli aggiornamenti della Ferrari per Imola. Troppa, secondo Sainz che sabato già metteva le mani avanti:
For some reason everyone expected us to be flying this weekend with the new package. I’ve been seeing numbers of our package going around that were completely out of reality. Nowadays, already to bring a tenth is a good job by your team. I’m not saying we’ve brought one, two or half a tenth, but not the numbers people were mentioning.
Più che alla squadra, una critica alle simulazioni fantasiose che circolavano in rete. Fatto sta che il pacchetto, numeri alla mano, ancora non rende quanto serve se non altro perché la McLaren – che i suoi sviluppi li aveva portati a Miami – è rimasta davanti e quasi si portava a casa la coppa: “Nessuno è cresciuto come noi”, ribadiva Andrea Stella. Ad ogni modo, adesso la Ferrari ha una direzione. Dalle interviste a Leclerc:
All-in-all, I think the race pace was quite strong. We lacked a bit in qualifying. After looking, we missed on the front straight, especially – which we’ll look into – but on the rest of the lap, we were quick. So it’s looking good for the rest of the season.
E la fiducia viene anche dal fatto che sembra sia risolta la questione dell’attivazione delle gomme a temperature basse. Sempre Leclerc:
What makes me optimistic is that if I look back at the data, I thought we were losing in turn two, three, four, which would have been tyre related. But it wasn’t the case. We lost everything in the straights. They are doing something weird with the energy, engine-wise, McLaren and Red Bull, nothing that is not possible to change.
Non è chiaro a cosa si riferisca quando parla di giochetti strani sul motore. Ma l’ultimo nel paddock a dire che c’era qualcosa di sospetto in quest’area fu Verstappen nel 2019, e parlava della Ferrari. Che alla fine venne a patti con la Fia per chiudere un’inchiesta su cui sono rimaste troppe ombre.
